Climbing is a really fun way to encourage physical activity for early years children and helps to develop movement, balance, hand eye co-ordination and communication skills in a fun environment. It also provides a problem solving exercise that offers young children exciting mental challenges with a great sense of accomplishment. Climbing isn't just about getting to the top - most Little Rockers will initially stay quite low on the climbing wall and only start moving higher as their confidence in themselves, their instructor and the equipment develops.
Big Rock 45 minute Little Rockers sessions are conducted by qualified climbing instructors and involve lots of age appropriate fun, games and activities, in addition to using the climbing walls. The games and activities are designed to familiarise the children with different aspects of climbing, helping them to develop the movement skills and techniques to begin their journey as little climbers. Each group includes a maximum of 4 children per instructor, ensuring that each little climber receives lots of individual attention. The sessions run in blocks to help develop familiarity and therefore confidence between the child and their instructor.
Whilst the children enjoy themselves on the climbing walls under the supervision of the Big Rock instructors, Parents and Guardians are free to relax and watch in the Big Rock Cafe overlooking the climbing areas. We even offer a free complimentary hot drink from the cafe!

Prior to the start of the 4 week Level 1 Introductory block, we offer a 45 minute Little Rockers Taster Session, providing an ideal opportunity for you and your child to attend and check out Big Rock Climbing Centre.

Little Rockers Level 1 Intro consists of 4x 45 minute sessions spread over 4 consecutive weeks.

or Tuesday 12th June 1:45pm - 2:30pm followed by 3 consecutive Tuesday sessions 1:45pm - 2:30pm
Little Rockers Level 2 Progression consists of 6x 45 minute sessions spread over 6 consecutive weeks.
Level 2 is open to any child who has completed at least one 4 week block of Little Rocker Level 1 sessions.
Children are welcome to attend multiple blocks of Level 2 sessions throughout the year.

Price
Please note: For Level 1 and 2 courses to run, we require 4 children to book on to the session. A non-refundable deposit of £10 is payable at the time of booking. If less than 4 children book on to a session then only the first week of that block will run. If 4 children book on to the session we will contact you to take payment of the balance for the block.

The price of the climbing session includes entry to the climbing wall and all instruction and equipment required. Each session includes a free hot drink for the child's parent or guardian.
